World Food Day In India

There are millions of children in India who have it in them to achieve success in life and put our country on the global map in various fields. However, what they lack is the most basic resource in life, which is food. This is exactly why World Food Day is important in India. Every year, the 16th day of October is observed as ‘World Food Day’ to mark the founding of the Food and Agriculture organisation of the United Nations. Each year has a theme; this year’s being ‘Sustainable Food Systems for Food Security and Nutrition’, aspects like health and hygiene will be prioritized.
The world has enough food to feed those living in it. So does India. There is more food than required in our country. However, we are currently lacking in the distribution of this available resource. For this reason, there are a number of NGOs working to provide food to the poor. There are over a million people who are also willing to provide charity food for the poor. But this number is not enough. Hence, the need of the hour is to concentrate on the distribution of food and also to involve more people to volunteer in providing charity food for the hungry in our country.
Why is World Food Day celebration so important to India? It is because this day is dedicated to the million people who live in hunger, especially children. When a child is born in a family, the most amount of importance is given to nutrition. Whatever the child eats or drinks is of utter significance. Why should those living below poverty line not bring their children up in the same manner? For this reason, we do have a number of NGOs working for food in this country. They are constantly striving to evoke awareness amongst people to donate to children.
Also, another important aspect is that of education. However, only when a child is fed well would he be able to concentrate on studies and grasp knowledge. It is very essential for a working citizen to understand that providing charity food for the poor is their responsibility as part of such a massive economy. Only with each other’s help will those living in difficult conditions be able to stand up and make a better living.
Therefore, this World Food Day, donating for food to the hungry will make many lives better and spread smiles for miles! NGOs like The Akshaya Patra Foundation provide the option of making online donation for children. While sitting at home or at your workplace, you can always make a donation online with just a click of the mouse. Visit the website to make a donation and ensure children food and education

World Food Day

World Food day is celebrated on 16th October In India Ever year.

India is in a state of urgency to eradicate hunger, poverty and illiteracy. Proving food to children as an incentive to enroll and attend school poses as a solution for all three of these issues plaguing our country.According to the Global Hunger Index, in India 43.5 per cent of children under the age of five are underweight. Food is necessary for children to study because hunger does not permit them to concentrate.

World Food Day is an occasion for the all communities in the world to get together to generate awareness about the worldwide hunger problem. World Food Day was adopted by the United Nations General Assembly in 1980 to celebrate the establishment of the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations in 1945. The primary objective of this day is to increase public awareness and to bring people from all over the world together to fight against hunger, poverty and malnutrition.

Akshaya Patra ensures the use of healthy ingredients in the mid day meals that satisfy all the dietary requirements for growing children.
